Climbing Arborist

Job Summary

Foy Tree Care is a small local tree service business that prioritizes doing high-quality work. We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Climbing Arborist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for tree care, excellent climbing abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the health and safety of urban and residential trees.

Duties

• Perform tree pruning, trimming, and removal using proper climbing techniques and equipment
• Operate 1-ton chip truck with a wood chipper
• Conduct tree risk assessments and identify hazardous conditions
• Operate and maintain climbing gear, chainsaws, and other arboricultural equipment safely
• Communicate effectively with ground crew members to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Provide excellent customer service and explain tree care procedures to clients
• Maintain equipment in good working condition and perform routine inspections

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in tree climbing and arboricultural work
• ISA Certified Arborist certification is an asset
• Experience towing trailers is an asset
• Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning techniques, and rigging practices
• Proficiency with climbing systems (SRT/DdRT), chainsaws, and hand tools
• Excellent physical fitness and ability to work at heights in various weather conditions
• Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
• Physical Requirements
•  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
• Comfortable working at heights exceeding 60 feet
• Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to climb for extended periods throughout the workday

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Arborist Assistant to join our team, responsible for assisting the arborist and crew. The ideal candidate will have experience or education in arboriculture or forestry. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Duties

• Assist arborist during tree work (rigging, bringing equipment/tools as needed)
• Move branches in work zone to wood chipper
• Clean site after completion of job
• Stack wood (occasionally load wood/logs)
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in arboriculture/horitulctural field is a strong asset.
• Related education in arboriculture or forestry is a strong asset.
• Strong physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks including lifting heavy loads.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
• Commitment to safety standards and environmental best practices.
